I had a stroke aged 5 and head injury aged 14. Particularly after the head injury I wasn't allowed to play competitive sport at school due to the nature of my injuries. I came across wheelchair rugby at college in Mansfield in my early 20's. But when I left college, I didn't play competitive sport until I found out Saracens Wheelchair Rugby Club trained not far from where I work.
Since joining, I feel the sport and club has given me purpose, a chance, new friendships, fire in my belly and a chance to play competitive sport once again. Not been able to use my right hand side since my stroke doesn't really hamper me playing wheelchair rugby as I can use my left side to play. It's always a joy to turn up at training and tournaments to play for SWRC.
